Yao Ming out for the season

Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets is out once again. Thanks to a stress fracture in his left ankle, the NBA superstar will have his shine put out for the rest of the current 2010-11 NBA season. Yao Ming was already having his minutes limited thanks a broken left foot he was hoping to return from, but Yao's once brilliant career has been marred by consistent injuries in recent seasons.

2009-2010 NBA Midwest Division Preview

If it weren’t enough that the NBA’s Midwest Division looks much different than last season, a few teams, notably, the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks made key additions, and Rockets’ star big man, Yao Ming, just had to injure himself for the duration of the season. That curveball may open things up for younger teams to move into the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Spurs are seeing its NBA championship window close every year. In response, the team added several key free agents to make a push to compete with the Los Angeles Lakers in the West.

Rockets Coach Jeff Van Gundy Fired

On Friday the Houston Rockets fired their head coach Jeff Van Gundy following another year of a first round NBA playoff elimination. Gundy had one nonguarenteed year left on his contract meaning that the Rockets had the option to keep him for the 08 season. This year the Rockets went 52-30, but it was heavily rumored that Van Gundy would be fired after their loss to the Utah Jazz in round 1 of the NBA playoffs. Van Gundy said he was hopeful to retain his job.

“I was hopeful all the way up to last night they would change their mind.”
